Cat play date-good idea or bad?

I just adopted my 1-year old Maine Coon, Jed, 2 weeks ago from a local animal shelter. He is very friendly, although very rambunctious as he is in his "teenager" stage. A good friend recently suggested that she bring over her 3-year old cat Lady for a "play date" with Jed, while we watch a movie. I know this is common with dogs, however, I was wondering if it is a good idea for play dates with two cats. I know that kitties can get really territorial and I wouldn't want Jed to feel threatened with the visit of another cat in our home. Suggestions?

My mother-in-law is trying to guilt my husband and I into having a lavish Christmas. What do we do?

My husband and I for the last few years have had very expensive Christmases for ourselves and the family. For the last several years, my mother-in-law has been broke and living off of food stamps, government istance, and us. Last year she didn't even bother to give me a gift and she went to the local food pantry and picked out some trial size toiletries for my husband including a PINK puff sponge. Did I mention some of the toiletries had been opened and SAMPLED by her? Basically, the stuff she didn't want she gave to my husband. She spent all of her money (which wasn't a lot) on my husband's sister to buy her a $50 hair dryer. My husband was hurt greatly, not by the lack of cost on his gift, but because there was no thought put into it what-so-ever. Well, this year, things are different. My husband and I have fallen on hard times. I just lost my job a little over a week ago, and my Christmas Eve paycheck was supposed to cover the cost of Christmas. Now my paycheck goes to our car payment as I will only be receiving half of my usual check. My mother-in-law however just inherited over $100,000 from her father's death. My mother-in-law is riding us hard on Christmas and HER expectations of it. She is downright pissed that my husband isn't going to be buying his sister a present. My husband doesn't think it's necessary right now because we have to focus on paying bills. His mom is already lavishing several very expensive gifts at his sister, one of them being a weekend get-a-way for her and her boyfriend. She also wants us to buy gifts for his grandma, but due to a previous heated political discussion she has chosen to ignore her grandson on gift-giving all together this year. My mother-in-law is also expecting us to buy her gifts this year, too and even went as far as giving us a list. My husband just got off of the phone with her and she told him that she would go out and buy presents for his sister and grandma and tell them they were from us but then toss the hefty bill at us if we "weren't going to come to our senses." I'm sorry, but this woman just inherited over $100,000 (she's been bragging to us about it) and I think she is way out of line, especially after the shitty Christmas she provided my husband and I last year. I do not want us to be stuck with a huge bill on gifts that we would have never bought to begin with. What should I do? I am so frustrated, I don't even want to go to my husband's family's Christmas because I already know it's going to end up in yet another heated argument. What should I tell my mother-in-law and how can I make her understand that as much as we want to celebrate Christmas and have done so for the past several years that this year it is too much of an unreasonable request and we'll I-O-U people when our tax refunds come around. Why does my North Carolina WIC voucher say I can get items that the store won't let me have?

For example: The voucher says "UP TO ONE POUND CHEESE" In the booklet that I got from the WIC department there are several varieties of cheese listed, sold in a variety of ways. At my local Food Lion they have tagged items displaying "WIC Approved Item" on only 2 items. When I got something that was listed in my booklet as being approved the cashier told me that it was only the marked items that I could get. I don't get it. Why would WIC approve an item and Food Lion not offer it as approved? I think its the same with the cereals. I did not see as many tagged as are on the list, though I know they carry at least a few of those. Does this happen at other stores? Do I need to just go to the manager?

Can one half tank of "bad gas" cause a 2003 Corolla to vibrate violently on braking and acceleration

That is what the Toyota service center is saying caused a sudden problem with my car. I am skeptical that they are saying this just to avoid paying the repairs because the car is under warranty. They say they need to drain the tank, clean the tank and the inputs completely and I need all new sparkplugs and it will cost almost $800 and it is excluded from warranty because the "bad gas" is not their fault. I am suspicious because I buy my gas only at Mobil and I usually buy a half tank at a time and keep the tank close to full, so the gas in my tank is always a blend of one purchase and another. Also, I read that bad gas can cause a problem over time with sputtering, NOT sudden bad shaking vibrations. Can anybody advise me on this? Thanks

My Cats Will Not Eat Purina Cat Food Dry Indoor Formula?

My two cats have been eating this formula for well over a year, possibly two years, and the last 18 pound bag that I bought at Wal-Mart has been untouched. They would rather eat nothing than even touch it. Inside that bag was a sample bag of their Natural version of cat food made with real chicken. They ate it up. Did Purina add some nasty ingredient so that cats would not eat the indoor formula, and include a free bag of some higher priced cat food so that they could up-sell us? They have responded to me and said that they have not changed the formula, and that it could have been stored near chemicals, and sent me a coupon for a free bag of whatever plus two coupons for $2.00 off.. whoopee. The cats seem to like the new Natural Purina version so I guess I will stick with it, and tell wal-mart to give us back our money. Good luck to you all. I hope no other pets die. Good choices for quarterbacks and running backs. The receiver that i don't like is Santana Moss. There will most likely have a quarterback change on the Redskins. He isn't very reliable. I wouldn't have him on my team. You have good choices for tight end, but it is almost a risk. Rob could have been a one-hit wonder, and Gresham has potential but hasn't had his break out season yet. I would get a better kicker and defense. I had Hartley last year and really regretted it. I thought he would be a good starter but choked throughout the season. He lost me valuable points and wasted a slot in my starting lineup. You can always change your defense every week. San Diego doesn't have much defense, but every week I go with a team facing a bad offense. If works well and its always a safe bet so you wont lose points.

Crystal City is definitely a good location in Northern Virginia to stay. There are numerous hotels including Hyatt, two Marriott, Holiday Inn, etc.which all have weekend rates under $100 per night. The Marriott's connect to the Metro station via an underground shopping mall, which makes it especially convenient in bad weather. Crystal City is located right on the Metro Line which is served by both the Yellow Line and the Blue Lines, which would give you easy access to the locations you mentioned, as the Blue Line stops at Arlington Cemetery and in the middle of the National Mall, for easy access to all the Smithsonian museums, while the Yellow Line can take you directly to the National Archives and Chinatown.

What would happen if people had to apply for permits to become parents?

We have to apply for the right to do so many things in this country;build, drive, vote, get a loan, etc. Why is is that everyone can become a parent? I wonder what would happen if we were able to (impermanently) sterilize everyone at birth, and only granted them fertility later in life if they were deemed fit. I am not talking about all out eugenics here, but people would have to meet a few requirements. These requirements would include mental stability, some level of financial stability, and probably a minimum age. I think this would reduce the number of unwanted children, as well as lower the incidence of child abuse. I also wonder if it would reduce some of the stresses caused by an ever ballooning world population. However, I can see some possible downsides; infanticide of the unwanted , unlawful discrimination, etc. I just wanted to know what everyone else though of the idea, or if anyone has other solutions

Thanksgiving is a holiday began by the Pilgrims (one of the US's first European settlers). They basically had a joyous party and feast for those couple of weeks or so. There were MANY miraclous occurances from God toward the Pilgrims in their journey and settlement period. They were a very Godly people who escaped religious tyranny in Brittain and intended to evangelize whoever was in the new world (America). They had a thanksgiving toward God that was so deep during that feasting that the tradition of thanking God for his providing our needs (and more) has become a wonderful tradition, and an official holiday. So to celebrate it properly, we turn our focus onto God our provider (not so much focusing on family and food, if one honors the day properly).

hi - when I am in the donut hole, I am having to pay more money each month than I get in disability income. The disability income is just enough to disqualifiy me from any additional istance, and the amount that i pay in drugs ($6035) is just under what I need to pay to qualify for Medicaid. It's like they figure out exactly how to keep you from getting any help. I already went to my aging and disability specialist and they dont' have any more ideas for me, What I'm trying to do right now is to try to research natural cures and then take those ideas to my doctors and then try them with their involvement. But admittedly I don't know that much and most of my drugs don't have a natural alternative or the reseach is very spotty at best. Going to Canada is an alternative but Canada doesn't have my expensive meds. I don't really know what to do. thanks

Recurring Dream?

I have this bad recurring dream since I was 13. This dream would usually come on specific dates and hour every year. I had one of them last night .This dream would always look and seem so real that I often wake up breathless and crying in the night. In my dream I see myself walking along a wooded riverbank in the dark of the night dressed in a mestiza spanish dress (like those in the 19th century). A man whom I call Daniel came to meet me. and pulls me frantically to follow him but before both of us could run any further somebody shoot him and he died. The dream would end with me being shot as well. What could this dream mean and why does it follow a certain pattern of time? Could this be an omen or a warning of an impending danger? A couple weeks ago I was having a constant fluttering feeling in my chest. When I put my hands over my heart it seemed to be skipping. tortillas or gorditas, follow the directions on the package for mixing for tortillas,then put the ball on the tortlla press and then put it on a hot comal. for gorditas basically the same in the beginning but you have to pat it out round and thicker than a tortilla its really all about trial and error. i use the tortilla press to make gorditas cause i cant with just my hands. for cutting them open after there done i have found out you have to cut them open as soon as you take them off the comal or there hard to open. use a serarrated knife ive had better luck with those knives than a regular one. the gordita fluffs up when its done. then you put what ever you want to in side.

I understand that different employer will have different benefits for their employee. I have a work permit colleague hospitalise with suspected appendicitis... Was admitted to the hospital and need to have operation immediately but however due to the deposit or whatever fee imposed was not made her surgery was sort of delay. My colleague will need to provide doc from company to support her as she is Legally Employed or something like that. Company mentioned that she will be able to claim from work permit insurance it something like that. I have an 8 week old son that loves to be held! When he is awake he pretty much cries unless we carry him around so he can look at everything! No, he does not have colic and really all I think it is that he just likes to be held by his mom and dad & look around! He hates his carseat, he hates the carrier, the vacuum does nothing, clical music forget it! A sling will not work bc their is just one position he likes to be held other then that no way hes not having it. U never know. all babies are different. Why don't you put your finger in his mouth and feel his gums..are they hard or little swollen up?..if yes then he might have a tooth very soon. My baby has stopped eating his solids??...?

My little boy is now just over 8 and a half months. He weighed 8lb 11oz at birth and now weighs 20lb 9oz. He started getting his bottom teeth around 4 weeks ago and now I can just see them poking through nicely when he smiles. He's always had a good appetite for his food since I started him on it around 6 months, but recently, especially the last week or so it's been a real struggle to get him to eat, he seems to just want bottles. I try to give him fruit and yogurt on a morning, which he's mostly eating, but then lunchtime or before bed when I try to give him his dinner or some porridge he flatly refuses, laying back in his high chair, wriggling down, screaming and turning his head away. I'm not sure why and I'm worried he's not getting what he needs. Is this normal when teeth start coming through? I'm thinking maybe they are really bothering as the last few days he's been completely soaking everything with dribble and that did wear off for a little while. I can't tell you how much food I've cooked up fresh for him thinking that it will help by making nice things for him to try but he just won't have it. I know someone close to me that cuts lawns for a living. One of his customers doesn't necessarily pay on time and they have lots of money. your noise suppressor went bad. they go in the power line to the radio. rhe sounds you are getting are from the alternator charging. also the internal noise supressor could have gone bad in the alternator. this is not un common and an easy fix. radio shack etc carries the suppressors and they work well. also there is a ground fault suppressor that made a world of dirrence in a car stereo i once put in. had no sound distortion at all after installing.

My husband relocated a birds nest with babies in it- will the mother be able to find it?

A bird made a nest in a bookcase located in our gargage as we often leave our garage doors open all day and night. We are leaving on vacation, so my husband relocated the birds next to the closest tree outside the garage - about 25 feet away. 1998 Ford Expedition EB edition problems?

My husband just changed the plugs and wires in a 1998 Ford Expedition. He is a decent mechanic, he know his stuff but unfortunately this one is puzzling him. After this simple operation that he has done hundreds of times, the power to the vehicle is completely gone, the truck will not start. He has gone over and over everything that he has done with no problems. He replaced the solenoid and checked all of the fuses the battery and fuel pump. We have googled for problems on these trucks but it comes back to nothing. The only thing we can think of is the PATS (Pive Anti-Theft System), and I have found instructions on how to reset the keys but with no power to the entire vehicle we a unable to do this as well. That's when I knew it was him. I spent most of my time talking to him on the bus. The day before this, I saw him on the bus. He had headphones on and was staring straight ahead. I asked him what was wrong and he said nothing. That was the last time I saw him. Then the next day at school, I got the news. My question, my point really, is what happened to his soul when he died? I've heard people say he could be in heaven or hell or he could be in limbo as a ghost. Can anyone tell me which one it is?

Have you also considered something in Health Psychology? I would think with your work experience in public health that might be an edge you would have over other applicants that don't have work experience. Or you might consider a blended program, one that involves aspects of I-O & Health psych, I know I've seen a few of those. I think if you do a thorough search you will find some programs that you match up with. I don't think your age is such a negative factor as you think. It's practical work experience, and it's not like you've been doing something totally unrelated. Plus your GPA looks good and being a member in the APA shows you have maintained an interest in psychology, even though you have been working in public health. Despite your low GRE, there are programs that would accept you with those numbers. I don't know so much about the job prospects in I-O after you graduate, maybe someone else can answer that for you. You've written an intriguing beginning. I'm trusting that you have made more thorough explanations for Annabella's situation in future chapters. I understand that her mother died, but why is she running away? Where does she intend to go? Why isn't anyone looking for her? Etc. My major criticism is with your format: you need to make multiple paragraphs of what you've written; dialogue always requires separate paragraphs for each speaker. I do realize that the dialogue at the start is actually occurring only in Annabella's imagination, but I do think that it still requires its own paragraph. If that is your entire first chapter, I suggest that you combine chapters since it is rather too short. I would be interested in reading more of your story as I am wondering where you mean to take it. My advice is that you continue to write what will be a first draft, then correct and polish it after you've finished. Have someone you know who is qualified and who will be objective critique your story when it is completed -- if you know someone who would be able to do so. Anyway, good luck with your writing!

My work's health insurance cancelled our whole company (we probably didn't pay the bill.) We went 15 days without coverage and didn't have to pay a premium during that time. However, I picked up some meds and payed for them out-of-pocket. My office said that they would reimburse me for those, but now they're saying they're going to deduct a copay and a pseudo-premium (by reimbursing me, they're sort of providing insurance coverage, which has to be paid for). I paid $70 for my meds. I would like to be reimbursed at least $50 (that's $70 less 2 $10 copays.) Human Resources doesn't have the actual numbers yet but they say it will be closer to $10 or $20 after they take the "premium". I can understand deducting the copay because that's what I would have paid anyway if we would have had insurance, but it seems wrong that my office is trying to charge me a premium for doing this. I live in CA if it makes a difference. Can you help, or at least point me towards someone that can?

We tried to purchase an item through Amazon. It was being sold by a third party and was marked up at one price. We added the item to our basket and paid the amount asked. After we paid for the item we received a "confirmed item purchase" email at the price it was advertised. Then approx 24 hours later we received and email from Amazon saying that the third party had canceled the sale and shorty after we got an email from the third party saying the advertised price was incorrect and they had canceled the order because of this mistake. Do they have to honour the internet price advertised?

Why is my computer making funky sounds?

I just got a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop and I haven't even had it a month. Since day one it has been making funky noises. It's like a clanking noise, then my PC freezes and restarts. It doesn't shut down and restart properly when it does that, something went wrong and caused the computer to shut down improperly. It happens at least once a day and I have a very good virus protection program with no infects, viruses, dangerous things, spyware, any of that. Usually once it restarts it's good to go until the next time. Today i have noticed a small crackling like sound coming from it, sort of the sound of it thinking, but this is new. It has been going on for about an hour now and I have restarted my computer, cleaned it, everything. It starts as soon as I log in. I checked on Google for possible answers and all I kept getting was 'it's the fan making a clicking noise' well it's not the fan, so please don't say that. The sounds, both of them, are coming from the top right part of inside my computer, the fan is on the left side. It's also not my speakers, it happens when the volume is off as well. Please help me, I saved for months to get this and can't afford to get a new laptop or possibly repair it. Please, please tell me it's something I can fix myself. Thank you

I've applied for an unsecured loan through a UK company called Advantage Loans. They are a broker and claim that they have found a company who will guarantee to give me a loan (bank have said no as borrowed too much already but want to consolidate a few things). The only thing is they have asked me to send a cheque for �49.50 for their services and I'm very wary of this. Well my acne is mostly on my forehead, in between my eyebrows and on my chin but I also have little bumps on my cheeks too. I've used eveything imaginable to clear my acne, and nothing seems to work. I have pretty oil skin but I wash it in the morning and night. I am currently using Murad and I've only been using it for a week and it seem to be working slighty but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to help me?
