My friend just moved away and blew off our dinner invitation?

It was rude. It does sound like a midlife thing. Well, if she calls again, tell her that she did have a tie here... but she just lost it. Then hang up and go find a new friend. Who does that to a friend of 10+ years? Apparently you weren't as high on her friends list as you thought. :(
