Why is my computer making funky sounds?

I just got a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop and I haven't even had it a month. Since day one it has been making funky noises. It's like a clanking noise, then my PC freezes and restarts. It doesn't shut down and restart properly when it does that, something went wrong and caused the computer to shut down improperly. It happens at least once a day and I have a very good virus protection program with no infects, viruses, dangerous things, spyware, any of that. Usually once it restarts it's good to go until the next time. Today i have noticed a small crackling like sound coming from it, sort of the sound of it thinking, but this is new. It has been going on for about an hour now and I have restarted my computer, cleaned it, everything. It starts as soon as I log in. I checked on Google for possible answers and all I kept getting was 'it's the fan making a clicking noise' well it's not the fan, so please don't say that. The sounds, both of them, are coming from the top right part of inside my computer, the fan is on the left side. It's also not my speakers, it happens when the volume is off as well. Please help me, I saved for months to get this and can't afford to get a new laptop or possibly repair it. Please, please tell me it's something I can fix myself. Thank you
